Step off Suffolk House and the ceiling changes first — pressed gold tin, hung with a low field of copper-shaded lanterns that never quite go out.
Black leather booths line the walls, chairs are dressed in crushed velvet, and the mirrors do the rest of the work: the room looks twice its size and twice as warm.
